St. Paul’s Cruise ‘n Barbecue

to Benefit many People through the Helping Hands Ministry!

Planning is well underway for one of St. Paul’s signature events – the 2018 Cruise ‘n Barbecue, to be held on Saturday, April 28th!

The proceeds from this year’s event will go to St. Paul’s Helping Hands Fund which is available to meet acute financial needs of individuals and families in the congregation and community.  The fund is faithfully administered by a committee that includes our Parish Nurse, Finance Chairman, Pastor and other volunteers from the congregation. Confidential requests made to a committee member are followed by discussions with the applicant to determine how needs can best be met through Helping Hands and/or other community resources. This insures that disbursements (made only by check) provide the best possible outcome for the recipient as well as wise stewardship of funds.

Many people have benefitted from the Helping Hands Fund over the years. We are honored as a congregation to have this opportunity to show God’s love to others with our support of this vital ministry through the Cruise ‘n Barbecue.

Once again this year, the day’s events will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an all new Poker Cruise route that will take participants through some of Rowan County’s most beautiful countryside. The Car Show as well as serving of Port-a-Pit chicken dinners will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. at which time trophies will be awarded, followed by drawings for the always awesome raffle prize packages contributed by individuals and organizations. In the meantime, there will be plenty of music, ice cream, baked goods and other activities to be enjoyed throughout the day!  Click here for the Registration Form.

Having so many willing volunteers allows everyone to have an opportunity to enjoy the day. Please fill out the Volunteer Sign Up Form to indicate how you would like to help. Many people will have the opportunity to benefit from the love that you show to others in support of the Helping Hands Fund.

raffles, raffles, and more raffles

It is time to begin gathering items for our Cruise ‘n Barbecue Raffle Baskets.  As in the past we would like for each Lutheran Women’s Circle to provide a basket and church members to create a basket or donate items.  All baskets and donations will be greatly appreciated.

Last year some of the top ticketed items were: $500 Food Lion Gift Card, Cheerwine Bench, Fire Pit, Bistro Set, Garden Cart & Chair, Gas Grill, Wheelbarrow and Outdoor Lounge Chairs.

If you are going to create a basket, please contact Susan Bernhardt or Terri Powlas so that there are no repeats.  If you want to donate an item, gift cards are always a hit or ask Susan and Terri what baskets need items included.

Please have your basket or donated items to the church by Thursday, April 26.  Last year, we had 25 baskets and raised over $5,000.  We are looking forward to another wonderful year of great baskets!

If you have any questions or would like more information please contact Susan Bernhardt or Terri Powlas.
